This is a motley assortment of photos from my May 1999 trip to California. They are sorted alphabetically, not chronologically. There are some from the Electronic Entertainment Expo in LA (which had lots of fun exhibits in the video game section), NetWorld/InterOp in Las Vegas, my pals the Castillos (especially Kendall and her friends, but also a few of her dad's backyard landscaping project), and a few pictures of my friend Michele. On my way to LA, I had flight problems and stumbled across Jesse Jackson's triumphant return to the US with the freed hostages from Kosovo, so I snapped a couple of pictures from that. They don't look like much, but it was an electrifying moment. There was a lot of joy and celebration in the air and, for a moment, we all felt that we were a part of history.
